Read Along:

Mark 1:12 Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness. 13 And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him.

14 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

16 And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

19 When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. 20 And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.

Prayerfully journal your thoughts on these questions:
Why do you think the word "immediately" is used so much in the gospel of Mark?

Why did Jesus preach what he did in this passage?

Why did Jesus call simple fishermen? Why these ones in particular?

Apply the message:
How can I apply the message that I've learned from this reading to my life?

What practical thing can I do in the next 24 hours, in order to apply the message that I've learned?

How can I apply the message that I've learned from this reading to my life?

I can apply this message in my life by acting immediately. God is directing me in different places and different ways. I find myself procrastinating because I say to myself, "I am not ready yet." This year, this week and this day, I am making a commitment to act immediately with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

I can apply this message to my life by being intentional about my actions. Often I find myself procrastinating or finding an excuse as to why I can get things done at present. So my takeaway is to act immediately and intentionally and allow God's directives to guide me.

Procrastination is a big one that hinders God's plan for our lives. Awesome application

One thing for sure is that I'm intentional is my morning daily Bible studies and that's early in the morning. I do like the idea of having set a daily plan on doing things for the Lord, that would give me structure which works for me. Being diligent is in my prayers and I know that there are things in my life that needs to be dropped so that I may fully concentrate on the Lord's work. All this is attainable by being filed with the Holy Spirit.

Beautiful, an emphasis once again with the Holy Spirit. I like when devotions create a trend.

I'm glad that your devotional time is part of your lifestyle. It's so important.
