These discussion questions are based on the sermon titled "Power Outage".

Here are some discussion questions that you can talk about with the people that are in your home with you. You can also call a friend who was watching and discuss it with them. Or you can break out a notebook and use these questions to journal your thoughts on the message. Those who are at the church will discuss this after the message.

1. How do some people end up getting disconnected from God?

2. Why is being connected to God so important?

3. What are some issues that are created when our connection with God is lost?

4. What are some ways we can reconnect to God?

5. How does prayer bring power into our lives?

6. What message did you personally take away from this sermon?

7. How can you apply this sermon to your life?

8. What practical thing can you do today to get started?

Feel free to share some of your thoughts in the comment section below:

4) What are some of the ways we can reconnect with God.
Some of the way that work for me when I feel the need to reconnect with God is to:
* Read my bible and meditate. I would choose a verse or a passage and read it several times then invite the Holy Spirit to speak to me about what I have learned in the context of what is happening in my life at that moment.
* Go for a walk and talk to God by sharing my thoughts and whatever else is troubling me; tell him what I am thankful for and my hopes and dreams.
* Play and listen to worship music and immerse myself in the melodies and let the Holy Spirit minister to me.
* Get still by turning off all electronic devices and just spend some time listening to the chirping of the birds or the winds.
* Fasting is another way that helps me to get clarity of mind and gives me the potential for an encounter with God.

5. How does prayer bring power into our lives?

Prayer brings power into our lives by helping us to have a closer connection to God. The closer our connection to God, the more power we have. The more we pray, the more we strengthen our connection with God.

One of the young adults from Bedford Park SDA stated that it is just like having a friend who you talk with frequently. The more you talk with your friend, the more you get to know your friend. I would also add that the more you talk to your friend the more you are willing to share. Overtime, you develop a trusting relationship with your friend. The more we pray to God and get connected to Him the more faith, trust and confidence we develop in our relationship with Him and this makes us powerful.

So true what you said about the comfort level when it comes to sharing. I would also add that more we talk with someone the more you think similarly to the person you talk to. Or the more you understand each other. So the more we talk with God the more we can start seeing things from His perspective.
