These discussion questions are based on the sermon titled "Wake Up Time".

Here are some discussion questions that you can talk about with the people that are in your home with you. You can also call a friend who was watching and discuss it with them. Or you can break out a notebook and use these questions to journal your thoughts on the message. Those who are at the church will discuss this after the message.

1. How can sleep be dangerous?

2. Why does everyone fall asleep spiritually at some point?

3. Why were the wise virgins not able to give oil to the foolish?

4. Why were the foolish not allowed into the wedding feast?

5. How can one wake up from spiritual sleep?

6. How can we get that Holy Spirit oil in advance?

7. What message did you personally take away from this sermon?

8. How can you apply this sermon to your life?

9. What practical thing can you do today to get started?

Feel free to share some of your thoughts in the comment section below:

So in regard to being spiritualy a sleep, it can be very dangerous and so we must be vigilant in our thoughts and study the word and ask the holy spirit 🙏 to help us. Amen

I like that. Be vigilant with out thoughts. Be alert with where we stand with God. Guard our hearts, and study and work with the Lord.

7) What message I took away from this sermon:
The message I took away is that we must remain alert, vigilant and be prepared at all times because we do not know the day or time of Christ's return. The word of God says watch and pray. Therefore, we have to remain awake and active because the devil is busy at work at all times seeking to distract us. As

Christians we not only need to be awake but we must be speaking the word, loving people and serving the needy. We all want to do what is right but we are weak and God is telling us to get serious about our prayer life because Jesus' return is closer than we think and if we fall asleep spiritually we will become inactive.
My thoughts.

8) How can I apply this sermon to my life?
I can apply this sermon to my life by getting and staying busy working for the Lord. Sleep is related to being slow, lazy and a loss of consciousness for the things of God such as getting unconcerned for unbelievers as well as touch with spiritual things. Jesus is interested in us waking up and getting in the word, then going out in the world and sharing the message. It is not just enough to wake up from the sleep but we have to get up as well.

God wants us to be spiritually awake and live a life for God because Jesus has already make the way for us to go out into the world and share the good news about him. When you are asleep there is a loss of sensitivity and we then loose touch with God. Remember what happened to Samson while he was asleep, his hair was cut and he did not even know. Samson thought he could still hang on to his old blessing from God but he soon found out that his lifestyle caused him to be detached from God and he became weak. This is a reminder to all of us that it is time to wake up, get out into the world and labor for Christ to hasten his return.

Just my thought.

I also believe that people can be asleep spiritually when they don't see anything happening, whether that is in their churches, in their personal lives or the world. Then they may feel discouraged.

I know for me I have moments of feeling like I'm not doing anything effective so I just stop altogether. Then after a few weeks/months I feel that fire again.

Wow Danequa left a message. Thank you.
So true what you said about sometimes feeling like you're not doing anything. Sometimes those moments could be the devil trying to discourage us or it could be the Holy Spirit trying to convict us to wake up.

7. What message did you personally take away from this sermon?
The message that I took away from this sermon is that after one gets baptized, it means that this person's personal salvation gets closer and closer over time. What is ironic is, in manner cases, many people become comfortable and complacent on their Christian journey. My spiritual commitment has increase over time so I am happy about that. Its good to know that my practices are headed in the right direction.

I also learned today that we all fall asleep at some point or fall off track because the flesh is weak, although we are willing.

This is something I will reflect on and keep in mind throughout my Christian journey.

8. How can you apply this sermon to your life?

I can apply what I have learned from today's sermon to my life by continuing to pray, read the Bible and watch. Jesus told His disciples to pray and watch and I will be doing the same thing while I await the coming of Christ.

9. What practical thing can you do today to get started?
One practical thing I can do today to get started is share a reflection on the sermon so that I can clearly identify my takeaways. I can also share this sermon with other people. On Sabbath mornings before the start of each sermon and before Sabbath School, I share the website link with many people so that they can revive His blessings.

What I will do differently this week is reach out to the people I shared the sermon link with and talk about the discussion questions and learn more about how to be awake and prepare for the coming of Christ.

Hey those are some pretty cool takeaways. Thats awesome that you have been sharing the link. And I also like the idea about reaching out to people and discussing it with them.

I am glad that you have been growing in Christ since your baptism and now dwindling like many who have lost their first love.
