This an example of having fun with the words of God. In the beginning I felt reading the word was a lots of work. Reflective thinking and making a connection with personal events is kind of a cool thing and many times I had find it to be funny.

I like that. Yeah sometimes something wacky happens to me and I think, "God what message can I get from this". But yeah reading the word is more interesting when I try to think what message I can get out of it. God wants you to delight in it. Enjoy it. Have fun with it. David had fun by coming up with this poem/song

1. Why do you think David wrote this song using the Alphabet?

I think that David wrote this song using the Alphabet because he wants it to be easy for others to remember. Like a poem of alliterations or the way we use acronyms in the work place to remember different protocols and procedures; David wants this song to have permanence in our lives. The point of the matter is, we are on a long journey (road) on our Christian walk and it is essential for us to carry these promises in our hearts and minds the entire way. We do not know when we will reach our destination; David's song reminds us that we have guidance to keep us grounded comforted and directed along the way.

I love (RESH) Pslam 119:153 "Consider my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget your law." I will continue to meditate on this verse.

That's my view. He made an acrostic poem on steroids so that it can leave an impression.
I like Resh too. But thats because its one of the easiest letters to write.
The message of Resh is very applicable today.

David is a poet n a song writer, poets and song writers
Have different way in expressing their ideas n thoughts.
Some poets use rhyming in their poems, some not .
Some song writers writes song wherein there’s a rhyme n rhythm in every verses . What is important in Poems or song is what message it conveys and how sincere the writer wants his her message to be conveyed to the reader or listener . In the case of David he was so into to the sincerity how he expresses his love n praises to God.
Just my thoughts Sis Cora F.

I very much see your point. It was his expression of how beautiful he viewed the word. By the way there are places the Bible where songs rhyme

I think David used the analogy of traveling on a road bec
He considered life with God is like a journey , a traveler wouldn't know what he’ll meet along the way , but as long as He let God be his companion , guide , driver n compass on the road of traveling ,He is sure of arriving to safe destination , n that involves true faith in God .In this Psalm, David expressed his Faith , his total dependency in God’s guidance n protection in his travel in life

The song in our hymnals goes "Onward Christian Soliders"
Not "Sit down still soldiers"

I think God gave us different ways how to be inspired in reading n listening His Words , and Christian music and devotional poetry are good tools on how God’s message be conveyed to people .

I find it interesting when people say we can only sing songs in the hymnal, but in the Bible you have this creativity of people writing songs. There are many people who are gifted in writing poetry. They should use it for the Lord

I would say Prayer is talking to God and meditation is listening to God . Why people is skeptical to meditation ?
Well, maybe it’s human nature that people just want to talk but not to listen. 🤗what do yu think?

You got it. David talked about meditating so much. See that is God opportunity to speak to our minds.
Thats powerful what you said. We have a tendency to want to talk but not listen.
"Oh God help me." But then never take a pause to listen to His response."

Thank you PastorJamel for your ABC Psalm sermon. It was very innovative and thought provoking. I really identify especially during this time we’re in with your summary of LAMEDH...
“Your word kept me alive”
Your summary of MEM really showed that after reading and studying God’s word we must also reflect , pray throughout our day on what his message really is and how we can through him
best implement it.
I agree with you that writing things down is tremendously helpful. I recently started writing things down ( Bible verses, hymns , thoughts) in a little book during devotions. I find doing that makes it much easier to remember things. I carry it with me so I can add to or refer back to it throughout the day. At the end of the day I can also go over it to refresh my memory and reflect how I applied God’s word to my life that day. For our goal is to have a deep and true relationship with Jesus.
God’s blessings to you and Yonkers church

That is so awesome that you have been applying this in your life.
"Your word kept me alive" isn't that powerful. Sometimes its only God's word that we are surviving.
