1) Why did Jesus get baptized?
Jesus got baptized because he was taking our place. I think he is perfectly identifying himself with the human family in baptism. When he came to John the Baptist, John did not want to baptize him at all and he was not going to do it but Jesus said, "It becometh us to fulfil all righteousness" Matt. 3:15. He was taking the place of a sinner, and that is realized in his death. Jesus got baptized to set the example for mankind to follow because he had no sin to be forgiven of. By Jesus asking John the Baptist to baptize him others would believe what John has been telling them and they would be able to confirm that Jesus is truly the Son of God. This was validated after Jesus was baptized and the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove that came and pitched on him. Then a voice from heaven said, "This is my own beloved Son with whom I am pleased."

2) When people get baptized, why do they join God's Church?

Church membership is a public affirmation of someone's public profession of faith in Christ, and Jesus has appointed baptism as the means by which his followers publicly profess their faith in him. Baptism is required for church membership in the same way vows are required for marriage to be recognized. Baptism is how you publicly identify yourself with Jesus and with his people. Acts 2:38 was referenced in the sermon where Peter responded to the people saying, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit". Joining the church is meant to strengthen our faith and forge a deeper relationship with God. It also gives a new member the opportunity to become a member of the body of Christ as well as enable us to fellowship with other believers by worshiping together and sharing in God's life. As Pastor mentioned in his message that a lot of people look at baptism as the end to a series of events but it is in fact the beginning of the Spiritual journey.

5). How is our walk different after Baptism?

Our walk with God is different after baptism in that we start to live a new life because we have been forgiven of the old sinful life, and now we are guided by the Holy Spirit. The way I look at it, is that there is no magical feelings, although some people do feel very different after their baptism. After baptism we know that our sins are forgiven, and this is when we seek God daily by loving him above anything else; schedule daily quiet time before we start our days work. Be in constant prayer throughout the day to acknowledge and thank God for his goodness. Align ourselves with people who can assist us with staying on the right path; get involved with church activities and have fellowship with each other. We can also start serving...whether working with children or seniors. Sometimes just by serving others we develop our God given talents that sometime could lead to a career change. It is also true that one of the things someone will do after baptism is to begin to pray a lot more, read the bible all the time to nourish our relationship with God. For me, I discovered that the more time I spend in the word is the more I mirror the character of Jesus Christ.

6) What message did you personally take away from this sermon?
The message I took away from the sermon is that temptation is even more fierce after baptism. I remember when I got baptized I was quite young, and I thought all my problems would go away and I would be living a life of peace, joy and happiness. Boy was I wrong...it seems as if the devil was just waiting to come at me with all its might. Luckily for me I was taught from a young age to read my bible and pray every day. My mother was already dead, and my father made sure that we all had devotion together before we did anything else. When I became a Christian the Psalms became my best friend and with the prayers of my siblings and other church mentors my faith grew and I did not loose hope. It was not easy because my life was floating back and forth. I found myself going to parties and movies as well as getting involved in unpleasant conversations. However, as time went by I noticed that I was loosing interest in all the thing that I use to enjoy doing and my older sister was constantly telling me that I need to change the people I was hanging out with. A few years later I migrated to Canada and left all my friends behind. I went back home but by that time I had lost track with most of my old friends. A short time after I got married and migrated to the United States I began a new life with my family and a husband who is always praying for me. Today I can see clearly old habits don't instantly stop but that the Holy Spirit patiently work with me over the years to get me to where I currently am. As you mentioned in your message that it is a journey, and I am still on that journey but I am confident that with the help of th
