These discussion questions are based on the sermon titled "The Letter".
Here are some discussion questions that you can talk about with the people that are in your home with you. You can also call a friend who was watching and discuss it with them. Or you can break out a notebook and use these questions to journal your thoughts on the message. Those who are at the church will discuss this after the message.

1. How is the Bible like a letter?

2. Why is Jesus called the “Word”?

3. How was Jesus the perfect representation of the Father?

4. How do we instill God’s word in our heart?

5. How can we be like letters for God?

6. What message did you personally take away from this sermon?

7. How can you apply this sermon to your life?

8. What practical thing can you do today to get started?

2). Why is Jesus called the " Word" ?
Jesus is called the "Word" because through the words of Jesus all things were made therefore, he is the Word. John 1 states that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He (Jesus) was in the very beginning of creation with God (Father). All things were made through him, and without was not anything made that was made. Jesus not only gives humans the word of God; but he is the Word. It is also my belief that Jesus is called the Word because he speaks the truth, he tells us to believe in him and he wants us to spread the Word of him to everyone. Interestingly, it is because of "the Word" and his love, we have a chance to have an eternal life in heaven.

3) How was Jesus the perfect representation of the Father?
John 10:30 says, I and the Father are one meaning we cannot separate Jesus from the Father. In Hebrew 1 Jesus is called the radiance of glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature. Again, in John 14:9, Jesus said to Phillip "Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me." He told Phillip that whoever has seen me has seen the Father, which tells me that Jesus was the perfect representation of the Father. We are also reminded in Colossians 1:15 that Jesus is the image of the invisible God, he is also the first born of all creation.
When we look at John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me." Again, this is the perfect example of Jesus representing the Father. The word of God states that Jesus did not speak on his own authority, but it was on the authority of his father who gave him the commandment, what to say and what to speak. Finally, I will say it is clear in Matthew 11:27 that says, all things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

7) How can you apply this sermon to your life?
One way I can apply what I learnt from the sermon is to include scripture into my prayers. The fact that a large part of the scriptures were documented as messages or letters I can state my prayers in the form of letters/messages to God. For example, I could say, " Father, I have need for a vehicle and I stand on your word in Phillippians 4:19 for my vehicle in Jesus' name. Amen." Once I complete that prayer I would not continue to pray for the vehicle anymore but patiently wait on the Lord for an answer.

You said so beautiful stuff.
I love the book of John. It is my favorite gospel, because of how deep it is and it deals with things the other gospels do not, like the passages you mentioned.

Yeah we don't need to ask him again if we already made a prayer. However it is okay to ask the Lord for something more than once. God doesn't mind (Luke 18:1-8). Asking more than once strengthens our faith. And it reminds us that it is God in whom we need to trust for the solution. Prayers sets our focus back on God.

1. How is the Bible like a letter?
The Bible is like a letter because it can be read. A letter conveys a message, so does the Bible. A letter is written by someone for someone. The Bible is God's message to us. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16, NKJV)

4. How do we instill God’s word in our heart?
We instill God's word in our hearts by reading and re-reading the Bible. I am realizing that after a while, many of the Bible verses that I read frequently or hear people recite frequently are now committed to memory.

5. How can we be like letters for God?
We can be like letters for God by praying to Him and staying in communication with Him. We can be like letters for God by sharing His word with others.

I like your thoughts on the subject.
Repetition is the most common way we memorize things. Perhaps thats the reason God had 4 gospels in the Bible. The story of Jesus is repeated again and again.
Paul's testimony is repeated a number of times.
The experience is the wilderness is repeated in almost every book in the Torah.
Chronicles repeats Kings.
I can go on, but you get the point haha.
