These discussion questions are based on the sermon titled "Next Steps".
Here are some discussion questions that you can talk about with the people that are in your home with you. You can also call a friend who was watching and discuss it with them. Or you can break out a notebook and use these questions to journal your thoughts on the message. Those who are at the church will discuss this after the message.

1. Why do we like to know where we are going?

2. Why doesn’t God always make our journey clear from the beginning?

3. How are hasty decisions dangerous?

4. Why should God direct our steps?

5. How is the Bible a good guide for our lives?

6. How does trust play a factor in following God?

7. What are ways that God has guided you in the past although you were unsure of what the outcome would be?

8. What message did you personally take away from this sermon?

9. How can you apply this sermon to your life?

10. What practical thing can you do today to get started?

3) How are hasty decisions dangerous.
Hasty decisions are dangerous because they often lead to more problems. Decisions made without due consideration can lead to a lifetime of sorrow and regrets. We can stop making hasty decisions by going to God in prayer and ask for his guidance. He will help us to talk through the process, write down the facts which we can find in the word of God.
As you stated in you message that we can actively listen for God's directives and follow his his guidance. If we fail to follow the steps given to us and rush through the process we are likely to make mistakes which could be very costly. When our children were born, my husband and I lovingly cared for them daily. As they were able, we encouraged them to learn to walk, step by step, dress themselves and communicate. We watched excitedly as they grow and matured. It's the same way our heavenly Father is actively involved in our journey, he encourages us according to our capabilities and understanding. He waits until we are ready. If God told us everything about life at one time we would be confused, so he teaches us based on our spiritual age level.
Finally, as you stated in your sermon that Psalms 119:133 is instructing us to ask God to direct our steps by his word and don't allow sin to have dominion over us. We have to stay in-tuned with God so we can hear his little whisper telling what is the right thing to say or do.

Thats a great analogy about teaching a child to walk. Step by step. Its amazing how life has so many analogies on Biblical truths.

1. Why do we like to know where we are going?
We like to know where we are going so that we can be assured that we will get there. We think that we have control over our destination and our lives, when really, it does not matter how much we plan, at the end of the day, God is really the one who is in control.

2. Why doesn’t God always make our journey clear from the beginning?
God does not always make our journey clear from the beginning because He wants us to trust Him.

3. How are hasty decisions dangerous?
Hasty decisions are dangerous because we do not seek counsel or guidance from God. We do not pray about it or converse with others who might have the wisdom to offer beneficial advice. Hasty decisions are dangerous because they might have unintended consequences. In the same light, waiting around for "sign" after "sign" when God already shown you the way or given you direction is also very dangerous.

4. Why should God direct our steps?
God should direct our steps because He is our creator and He knows what is best for us. He also knows what purpose he wants us to serve.

Not seeking the counsel of God is a recipe for disaster. So yes that trust in God is so critical to our spiritual survival and development. Planning is good. As I mentioned in the message, the prudent considers well his steps", but at the end of the day, the best laid plans are pointless if it was not planned with God. And also God is the only one who knows the future, so we could make plans, but God ultimately has to guide the steps.
