These discussion questions are based on the sermon titled "The Levite’s Concubine".
Here are some discussion questions that you can talk about with the people that are in your home with you. You can also call a friend who was watching and discuss it with them. Or you can break out a notebook and use these questions to journal your thoughts on the message. Those who are at the church will discuss this after the message.

1. Why does God allow things like rape to happen in this world?

2. How did Israel reach such a low?

3. Why were the people of Israel doing whatever they wanted?

4. Why are such dark things recorded in the Bible?

5. Why wasn’t God the king of Israel?

6. What message did you personally take away from this sermon?

7. How can you apply this sermon to your life?

8. What practical thing can you do today to get started?

1) Why does God allow things like rape to happen in this world?
I understand that we are sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God but does any one really deserve such terrible treatment? How can I give scriptural guidance to forgive such harsh treatment knowing that God loves and cares for all of us, and has always loved and cared for us? The way I look at it is that we live in a fallen world, meaning bad things can happen to good people, and good things can happen to bad people.

When we break away from God and choose a path without him suffering and evil will prevail. In addition, sometimes all pain and suffering is not in vain. Just because we don't understand why something bad is allowed to happen does not mean there is not a good reason. The story of Joseph is a good example, he was hated by his brothers, they imprisoned him in a pit, and sold him to slavery. After years of bondage and misery, Joseph was molded by God to become a leader in Egypt.

In the end, he saved his family and his people from starvation and fulfilled God's promise to Abraham for the creation of the Israel nation. So you see suffering is one of the many tools that God uses for his glory. Jesus Christ Son of God, came down to earth and suffered, torture, anguish, pain, and died for us so we can have life eternal.

That is a great example of Joseph. People meant it for evil, but God flipped it around for good. We know that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord. Everything is God's will, but God can work despite man's mistakes and wrongs.
