These discussion questions are based on the sermon titled "A Sermon about Preaching".

Here are some discussion questions that you can talk about with the people that are in your home with you. You can also call a friend who was watching and discuss it with them. Or you can break out a notebook and use these questions to journal your thoughts on the message. Those who are at the church will discuss this after the message.

1. Preaching simply means to proclaim openly. How does this change your perspective on preaching?

2. Why was preaching (proclaiming) so important to Jesus?

3. Why were the disciples instructed to preach?

4. Why did Jesus send out the 70 disciples in teams of two?

5. Gospel means good message. What are some good messages that we can share to others?

6. What are some ways that we can be messengers of God’s good message?

7. Why is proclaiming the message the responsibility of all individuals in the church?

8. What message did you personally take away from this sermon?

9. How can you apply this sermon to your life?

10. What practical thing can you do today to get started?

2. Why was preaching (proclaiming) so important to Jesus?

Preaching is important because it is one way of sharing the God's message. Sharing a testimony is one way of proclaiming; Jesus does not need us to defend him, we see this in John Chapter 8:12-18,13 The Pharisees therefore said to Him, “You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not [a]true.”14 Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going. 15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16 And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me. 17 It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me."

Although Jesus does not need us to defend Him. When we proclaim His name or share his message our experience is more relatable to others. As humans, we mostly live by sight and not by faith. I remember a few sermons ago, you preached about the transformative power of hearing a testimony from someone who has experienced a change of heart after accepting, encountering or experiencing a life changing experience with Christ, so preaching to others through our experiences with Christ is helpful.

Yes testimonies are so powerful. Even if we don't much Bible you at least know your story, so why not share it.
