The Yonkers Church board has voted to approve the opening of our church doors for the main worship service. The state of NY is now allowing churches to open their buildings for up to 25% of their building’s capacity. Our sanctuary can hold 300 people, which means we are allowed to have 75 people as long as we maintain proper social distancing protocols. So starting this Saturday: Doors will open at 11am The announcements and message will begin at 11:15am. It will also stream here on this website. Around 12:15pm, when the message ends, we will be having a discussion based on the message. This will not be streamed. Instead the Discussion Questions will be posted after the message on my website for those watching online to use personally or as a virtual group. Safety: I want to assure you that the church is following the guidelines set out by the Center for Disease Control as well as the NY State Department of Health. You can see the guidelines when you pre-register. We are asked to keep a log of attendance for our services, so we are asking members before they arrive to pre-register by clicking this link below: Please Note:
Sabbath School will remain on the phone or zoom at 9:30am -10:45am. No in-person Sabbath School will be available at the church building. Food will not be eaten in the building. Prayer Sessions discussing Building Healthy Relationships will continue at the church building at the designated times. We have ordered plenty of face masks from the Adventist Community Services and they have all arrived. We encourage you to bring your own face coverings, however these masks will be provided for those who may not have any. These masks must be worn at all times while moving about in the building. Social distancing will be observed. Members are to sit 6 feet apart, with the exception of families which are allowed to sit together. To aide in this, designated seating areas will be marked off. Right now, NY State only allows us to hold 75 people within our walls due to the size of our building. When the state increases the limit we also will allow for more. We are asking members that wish to be present to fill out the online form. The conference has provided me with a 40 page document outlining the regulations of the New York State Department of Health and the Centers of Disease and Control Prevention (CDC). I have read this thoroughly. I studied it like I was preparing for a test. So I want to assure you we will be safe and will be complying with all their regulations. I encourage you to attend our worship service on Saturdays at 11am. I also encourage you to attend one of the prayer sessions each week. The facilitators have been doing an excellent job and you will enjoy it. However I do recognize that we have a number of people who are at high risk due to health conditions and age. We are not encouraging you to attend. Please take advantage of the messages on my website. For all others that are able to attend, click here to reserve your time. The Bible in Hebrews 10:25 talks about not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, rather getting together even more as the day of his return is coming. We have been assembling online, but now that the pandemic is subsiding, it time to assemble in person once again. It is going to be a blessed time together. Join us for prayer at 793 N Broadway, Yonkers NY 10701. Feel free to read Pastor Wayne's message in regards to opening up our church for service. The current state guideline allows for the attendance of religious services to be at 50% of the buildings capacity. Please pre-register to reserve your time and to help us keep an accurate log. Once you submit the form you may attend unless you are told otherwise. The Devotional Discussion Questions for each session will be coming from this book:Hello Yonkers Church family.
As you probably know by now, churches are now allowed to open their buildings for up to 10 people. Our board recently voted to provide very simple prayer services four days a week. Each day will provide two sessions. We are scheduling an hour in between each session to provide enough time for the transition as well as disinfecting of areas in use. Starting on Saturday, June 6 These times of prayer will be in affect: Sunday 11:00am - 11:30am Sunday 12:30am - 1:00pm Wednesday 6:00pm - 6:30pm Wednesday 7:30pm - 8:00pm Friday 6:00pm - 6:30pm Friday 7:30pm - 8:00pm Saturday 2:00pm - 2:30pm Saturday 3:30pm - 4:00pm This is not designed to replace virtual Sabbath School and the online messages I have been providing here on this website. All those will remain in effect as they have been the last two months. This is an additional ministry that we are providing for members who wish to have face to face interaction. However the main purpose is to provide a prayer haven for the community. We have ordered plenty of face masks from the Adventist Community Services and they have arrived. We encourage you to bring your own face coverings, however these masks will be provided for those who may not have any. These masks will be worn at all times while in the building. Social distancing will be observed. To aid in this, these prayer services will be in the Middle Brook room. Chairs will be set up at least 6 feet apart. When conditions allow, instead of having the prayer service in the building, it will be held outside on the lawn with proper social distancing and masks. Right now, NY State only allows for 10 people to be present within the building. I have filled out the forms and I am happy to say that the Yonkers Seventh-day Adventist Church is the first SDA church in the Greater New York Conference to be approved. We will set the example for the rest of the conference I encourage you to attend one of the sessions each week. However I do recognize that we have a number of people who are at high risk due to health conditions and age. We are not encouraging you to attend. Please take advantage of the messages on my website. For all others that are able to attend, click here to reserve your time. Getting together to pray is so important, especially in times like these. The conference and our church are a very serious financial situation. So we are asking for you to be part of the solution. In this video I explain the financial situation then afterwards I give a tutorial on how to use online giving. After watching the video click this link above to support your local church.
